windows media center program wont open because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. For more information, contact your system administrator.
I've only had this new team of nearly 4 months, and I used to have the Windows Media Center, do not know how I missed it and then Windows Media Center was preloaded. I want to know how to restore. The message I get when I click on Windows Media Center icon: Windows cannot open this program because it has prevented a software restriction policy. For more information, contact your system administrator. Now i don’t what to do is there any to solve this issue?
The following are mine system details
Windows Vista x64 Ultimate RETAIL installed onto clean system.
UAC disabled
using full administrator account w/ no restrictions

I had same issue on my system as well; mine followed some steps to resolve this problem. This issue is all about the “software restriction policy” to preventing from the Windows Media Center start.
Under the Windows Media Center go to the start
Then click on the default program
Now here you need to set the Program Access and Default Programs as custom and then click ok button.
On the Chose a default media player make check mark on the behind "Windows Media Center" in front of "Enable access to this program"
Finally click on the ok button. I hope this will solve your problem.
